A HOUSE FOR / FROM FIVE PICTURES
What could relate a cancer cell, a mollusk, a soap film, a wasp eye and a microscopic picture of the internal structure of a mere soy sauce …????????????
The stunning surreal richness of a nature that is inexhaustible!
The Microcosm is as rich and “unpredictable” as the Macrocosm.
They both testify about an inexhaustible creativity that belongs to…!?!
To whom…?
Or should we write to Whom…?
We do not know.
We do not want to have the arrogance of saying that we know to w(W)om…!?!
Created or evolved, Life, AT ALL LEVELS, enchants and frightens us, with its riches.
We ask you to design a house inspired by these five photographs recently published and advertised as “never before seen by the human eye.”
Maybe a house equally “surreal.”
Make a house equally “unseen before.”
Plunge into YOUR OWN “UNDISCOVERED TERRITORIES,” that is, into your own psychic and creative “undiscovered / unchartered territories” and see what is there… Please try to avoid any cliché, any influence, any more or less rational (or less rational) influence.
Simply try to generate a design as “unseen before by the human eye” as these five photographs.
Discover, or rediscover that “old” that is eternally new.
Discover or rediscover the sources of creation, those that made Paul Klee feel close to those who already died and to those not yet born.
Descend (ascend) to the very sources of creation.
Make a house in which a mollusk, a cancer cell, a soap film, a wasp eye and a soy sauce would feel “at home.”
And Hieronymus Bosch.
Maybe such a house would be an homage to him, the painter who, five centuries ago, was close to Freud, Breton, Miro, Piranesi.
That joyous / frightening celebration of the life of the here and now intermingled with the life of the there and then.
Design THE HOUSE OF HERE AND NOW AND THEN AND THERE…!!!!!!!!!!!!
Old and New, small and big, sinful and innocent, frightening and soothing.
Design THE PRIMORDIAL HOUSE / HOME.
The one where a mollusk, a soap, a cancer cell, a wasp’s eye and a soy sauce’s internal structure would feel at home in.
Please send us ANY work, ANY size and ANY format that responds to the theme to projects@icarch.us. We will publish all the works received on our new website, www.icarch.us. There is no registration fee. The deadline to submit your work is December 31st, 2010. If you have any question please contact us.
