Existence is a mystery.

Why does man feel a need, a strong need, sometimes, to repent…?!?

To be forgiven…?!?

Where does sin come from…?!?

Questions, questions, questions…

We ask you to design A HOUSE FOR A PENITENT.

For someone who repents.

For someone who asks for forgiveness.

Forgiveness from whom, and why…?!?

Why do we ask for forgiveness…?!?

Why is our heart, sometimes, HEAVY, HEAVY, HEAVY…???

Why do we feel guilty…?!?

What is GUILT…?

What is SIN…?!?

What is PENITENCE…?!?

How would A House for a Penitent look like…?!?

Could / would it be a “Modernist” House…?!?

Could it have white walls, lots of glass, comfortable sofas and armchairs…?!?

Or, on the contrary, would it have to be dark, sorrowful, “Medieval”…?!?

John Hejduk reflected, sometimes, on these issues.
