A HOUSE FOR LUCIAN FREUD
Soutine… flesh.
Death. Obese death.
Is there such a thing…?
Flesh.
Did he really have 40 children…?
But is it really important…?
Anxiety.
In front of his paintings, many years ago, an incredible panic attack came upon the writer of these words… Why…?!?
Perhaps A House for Lucian Freud should be drawn in pencil, or charcoal, not digitally.
Perhaps… is it a suggestion…?
Perhaps...
But why…?!?
Why should a house for Lucian Freud be drawn in pencil, or charcoal, or with a heavy, visceral substance…? But not digitally… not digitally… or maybe with Maya…?
Flesh.
Again, Soutine.
Raw flesh and death.
We ask you to design A House for Lucian Freud.
He died on July 20th, last year. The deadline for this competition will be one year later, on July 20th, 2012.
Lucian Freud… a figurative painter at the beginning of the 3rd millennium.
The House of Raw Flesh.
The House of Obese Death (but the skeletal deer-like fragility present too).
Raw(tten) flesh.
THE HOUSE OF RAW(TTEN) FLESH
And wrinkles, wrinkles, wrinkles.
Despair.
Francis Bacon – his friend.
Gray mundanity, urban decay (even at the highest levels – the Queen), The Human Condition, Modern, Urban, but the dog, the cat, the deer…
Fragility.
