THE HOUSE OF RENT-A-GRANDMA
Why not…?
Isn’t Capitalism The House of Unending Ingenuity…?
Indeed, if we rent a car, or a movie, why wouldn’t we rent a “grandmother” as well…???????????
The question is: whose grandmother…?
Could YOUR grandmother be mine…?
Does blood mean nothing…?
In Capitalism, whose only blood is money, it seems indeed it does mean nothing.
We can rent anything, we can BUY anything, because anything SELLS.
Our soul as well.
So let’s rent a grandmother, through the convenience of the recently advertised service: Rent-A-Grandmother.
We have (let’s hope) the money, they have the “service.”
It is very possible that the “grandmothers” that can be rented through this “service” would never have the inconveniences the REAL grandmothers would have. We are sure they would smile continuously, their “service” would be irreproachable, since indeed, our “client” is our boss. So we, as implicit surrogate “grandchildren” or whatever, we too would have to conform to the requirements of the game, except that as “clients” we would have significant prerogatives the hired “grandmothers” would not have.
But who cares…?!?
The important thing would be that we, as CLIENTS, would get what we pay for, from these incessantly affable “grandmothers.”
So let’s design THE HOUSE OF RENT-A-GRANDMOTHER.
That is, a house where the force of filial blood is replaced by the force (or weakness) of money.
Inasmuch as they would be “grandmothers,” we would be “grandchildren,” that is, in between quotation marks.
But isn’t the whole life, somehow, or many things at least, in between quotation marks…?!!!
That is, only partially, if at all, REAL…?????????
So yes, we ask you to design AN UNREAL HOUSE.
As UNREAL as the hired “grandmothers.”
THE HOUSE OF MIMICKRY. THE HOUSE OF SIMULACRA.
The House of Delusions!
Please send us ANY work, ANY size and ANY format that responds to the theme. We will publish all the works received.
