THE HOUSE OF HELL
Inspired by the link below, we invite you now to imagine THE HOUSE OF HELL.
Such an invitation might seem unnecessary, since “houses of hell” can be found in many places, made so by less conscious efforts.
But to design intentionally THE HOUSE OF HELL is perhaps one way to avoid their proliferation.
So let us see…
What is Hell…?
And why are we so afraid of it…?
It has been said, by some at least, that actually Hell is here, on Earth, and it wouldn’t be very easy to contradict such a statement, even when we consider that what we call “Paradise” could be found, maybe less frequently, on Earth as well.
What would be the characteristics of Hell…?
It is, par excellence, THE PLACE OF DAMNATION.
The place where unending suffering is distributed to / on us, the sinners, with an intensity that we choose not to describe.
Many artists envisioned Hell, and some of them achieved actually their best work, by doing so.
But not the architect, since the architect, most often than not, is busy, by definition, trying to please the paying client.
Yet, quite often the architect is responsible of envisioning, almost unconsciously, true hellish built environments.
But let’s see if we can do it consciously…
Let’s imagine THE HOUSE OF HELL.
A house that, imagined to be here on the earth, would evoke other worldly qualities associated with, through imagined evidence, Hell.
So let’s turn our backs on Arcadia, and let’s imagine HADES.
A terrestrial Hades.
We can do it in many keys, from Bosch to Gislebertus. Or even Francis Bacon, the painter.
Design, dear architect, a Hellish House.
THE HOUSE OF HELL.
The House of Unending Suffering and Damnation.
The House of Pain.
As a retribution, often, of following, on Earth, its twin brother, Pleasure.
Frighten us, dear architect!
Make us shiver…!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And have no mercy!
Please send us ANY work, ANY size and ANY format and we will publish them.
Thank you,
